Asia Superyacht Development is marketing the 91 meter Polar Explorer project of its London-based partner SALT. Explorers, by definition, can pretty much go anywhere albeit, in reality "explorer" is a nice name given to quite standard yachts with some ruggarized features -a bit like you would call a Dakar-race car your 911 after putting some off-road tires on and a roll-cage in-. You are right, not quite enough. A real explorer has to be polar-able hence ice-class. The bar is so much higher indeed. with that 91 meters, a very decent size, SALT has already worked out much of the engineering requirements. What's left to do 1) getting someone to actually decide the final looks he wants out of the solid base that is already established. Three possible exterior "skins" or designs are currently proposed. 2) Pay for the build 3) have a bit of patience because such projects are not quick to build they are great fun to be involved in!
